The Curse Of Spooky Island: Chapter 7

Today was the day, after two weeks of pretending to be Lena to her friends. It was finally time for the girls to leave for Spooky Island and time for Andras to return home. So why do I feel like this? The demon asked himself. Ever since he had seen the tickets his body felt… off and he didn’t know if Lena’s body was getting sick or if it was something else entirely. Either way hopefully the feeling would subside by the time they arrived at the island.

“Hey… are you ok?” Sarah asked, seeing her roommate thinking intently.

Looking up at her and flashing a smile, “Aha yeah of course, I was just thinking over the travel schedule. Can never be too sure.”

“Ah ok well let’s get going, the girls are meeting us at the car.” She said, with that the pair grabbed their luggage and left the dorm for the parking lot. He could see the three girls already waiting at the car, waving to them.

Finally getting to the car Bianca was the first one to greet them, “There you guys are! I was beginning to think we’d have to send a search party.” She teased.

“Oh har har Bianca, we are barely two minutes late.” Sarah replied.

“Oh riiiight, you can give me flack for being late but when it’s the other way arou-” Bianca tried to say before being cut off by an intense stare by his roommate. “Let’s all just get into the car, yeah?” Amber interjected.

While Sarah’s car wasn’t small it filled up quickly with all the luggage the girls had brought, Andras internally chuckled at how such small people could need such large suitcases. Bianca’s bag nearly took up as much space as she did! Andras and Sarah were fine in the front but Kiera, Amber and Bianca had to sit with suitcases over them as the boot had filled up rather quickly. Thankfully the drive only took a few hours before they got to the airport.

——————————————————————————————————————————-

Going through customs was just as boring as he remembered, they had to wait in line for everything. It took them almost as much time to get on the plane from the airport as it did to drive there, it was ridiculous. After all that they were squeezed together in seats that barely had enough leg room for Lena’s body, not that he minded being next to the girls but if he was feeling cramped in a petite body like this he could only imagine how the larger humans he had seen would fare.

The flight itself hadn’t lasted very long, only about two hours but even that had left his legs in need of a stretch. From the airport they had taken a short taxi to a pier where the Spooky Island ferry had evidently arrived not too long before they got there because he could see many dozens of people streaming off of the deck onto the land. If they were returning from the Island that could only mean one thing and some subtle details like the way they walked or examined the mainland as if it was the first time they had seen it confirmed this to the demon.

He was back around his own kind now. The group made their way to the ferry and joined the queue as the ferry continued to clear out. “Just look at how many people are here.” Bianca said, “Yeah it was a bit like this last time, the ferry comes a few times a week and it was always packed.” he replied

“I guess free tickets will convince just about anyone to go huh? Speaking of, did the owner ever say why she was running such an insane promotion for so long? I can’t imagine how many tickets she must have given away if this ferry is as busy as this all the time.” Sarah asked

“Ohh she just said that she wanted as many people coming to the island as possible before she started charging to get the word out.” He said. Sarah seemed like she was going to continue the line of inquiry but was interrupted by a group of guys that had lined up behind them.

“Hey where are you ladies from?” One of them asked, oozing with confidence. Their group consisted of four guys mostly in surf shorts and a tank top but this one was shirtless and sporting an alright physique but nothing super impressive. Nonetheless he thought to show it off and try to hit on the group of girls in front of him.

“None of your business dude.” Sarah replied sharply, clearly not in the mood to entertain the advances of some hotshot.

‘Dude’ turned his attention to Bianca who was closest to him, ignoring Sarah’s comment. “Damn you guys look great, we should totally hang out on the island.” He said, trying to put a hand on the petite girl’s shoulder. Bianca took a step back, nearly bumping into Amber as she avoided the contact. “Ahhh yeah… maybe.” She said non-committedly

“Oh come on, don’t be like that. I’m just trying to have some fun.” He said smugly, taking a slight step forward to stand over Bianca. Amber stepped in between them with an angry look on her face, “Dude take the hint, back off.” she said sternly.

He seemed to want to say something else but the line started to move, cutting off whatever he had come up with. The girls turned their backs to the group and started to create some distance between them but stopped when they all heard Bianca say, “ow HEY.” turning around, clutching her behind. The guy just stood there with a lecherous smile, “Oh come on it’s no big de-” he tried to say. Being cut off by Andras pushing past the girls and throwing a punch at the guy. Andras wasn’t really conscious of what he was doing until he felt his fist connect with the guy’s jaw.

He must have put a fair amount of his demonic strength into that because once the guy went careening into the deck he slid for a couple feet before setting, unconscious. “Woah Lena what was that? Is your hand ok?” Kiera asked, clasping it in her hands. Snapping back to his senses he pretended to try and sooth his hand, “Yeah I’ll be fine.” The guy’s friends checked on him before turning to Andras. He thought he was going to have to swing a few more times, “Sorry about our friend here, he was outta line.” The brown haired one said.

“Whatever, just keep him away from us on the island and we won’t have any problems.” He said sternly before leading his group onto the ferry. The rest of the people on the pier were obviously stunned at the display of a small statured woman flooring what looked like a relatively sturdy guy nearly a foot taller than her but none of them said anything to them as they climbed on and sat down.

Bianca sat next to him and embraced him, “Thank you so much Lena, that guy was such a jerk.” she said before breaking off the hug. “That aside, how the HELL did you do that? That guy must have weighed at least eighty kilos and you knocked him out with one punch!” Amber asked incredulously.

“Oh it was a lucky shot I guess, full of adrenaline it must have carried me through.” The demon answered, “What a way to start our holiday!” Sarah said, “We haven’t even set food on the island yet and we already have a great story to tell everyone when he gets back.”

“Aha yeah…” Andras trailed off, the ferry ride itself was rather short. Only about twenty minutes before the island came into view and another half hour to reach it. The island was just as he remembered it, a dense forest canopy covered the majority of it with sections being carved out for the hotel and theme park. The peaks of the roller coasters were the only things that protruded above the high treeline. The ride was luckily uneventful as the group of guys from earlier had kept the troublemaker on the opposite side as requested.

After the ferry had finished docking, Andras and the girls had waited for the ferry to clear out so they were the last to set foot on the island. The dock to the island was decorated with long ‘mammoth teeth’ on the edges leading to a large sign with ‘Spooky Island’ plastered on it. Given that it was still relatively early in the afternoon there were droves of people just about everywhere you looked either relaxing on the beach, mingling among the buildings or walking around sightseeing.

“Wow, how cool is this place!” Amber said. “I can’t wait to go for a swim.”

“Well we still have a few good hours of sunlight left, so if we get settled into our rooms fast enough we might just be able to go for a swim while it’s hot.” Sarah told the group.

Andras had almost forgotten just how humid the weather was on the island, having lived here his whole life it was always normal but now having stayed where it was a fair bit cooler it was a bit of a shock to the system. The group reached the dock to find none other than Elizabeth Mondavarious, the owner of Spooky Island and secretly the queen of all demons, waiting for them. Elizabeth was originally a rich investor who had come to inspect the island for it’s resort prospects, the business woman and her entourage had made the mistake of exploring the caves which ended up with them getting ambushed by the demons and possessed. The demon queen took Elizabeth for herself and used the woman’s fortune  to build Spooky Island to what it was today.

‘Elizabeth’ greeted him warmly, “Lena! Lovely to see you again, I trust you had a safe journey?” she said, embracing him in a hug. This was the first time Andras had actually met the demon queen, he might have been ranked above quite a few of the demons in their hierarchy but few ever got the honor of talking to her. It wasn’t what he expected though, she radiated a sinister energy that made his stomach sink even deeper than before. Whatever it was, the girls seemed oblivious.

“Hey Elizabeth, good to see you too. Yeah it was mostly smooth.”

“Mostly?” She enquired

“Oh yeah, as we were getting on the ferry some dude started harassing us, we were going to just ignore him until he pinched Bianca’s ass. Lena delivered a swift punch to the guy’s jaw and knocked him out cold, it was the most unreal thing I have ever seen!” Amber interjected

“Oh did she?” The demon queen said, narrowing her eyes an almost imperceptible amount at Andras. “Well I’m glad he got what was coming to him, anyway where are my manners, you must all be Lena’s friends.”

“That’s right, this is Amber, Bianca, Kiera and I am Sarah.” Sarah said, Andras noticed the demon queen’s gaze linger on Kiera for a fraction of a second more than the others, clearly eager to inspect the one to be her new vessel.

“Oh well it’s lovely to meet you all, welcome to Spooky Island, I’m sure Lena has told you all about it. Anyway girls I would love to stay and chat but I’ve got a lot of things to attend to, I will leave Lena to show you to your rooms. You’ll all be staying in the same wing Lena did last time, I’ll see you all tonight.” ‘Elizabeth’ said before sauntering off and disappearing down the path.

“She seemed nice!” Bianca said, “Now Lena hurry and take us to our rooms, I wanna get swimming.”

“You’re as impatient as ever, fine, let’s go.” Andras relented. It was only a short walk to the wing they were staying in, the path they had been along was generously decorated with tiki torches and various totems which Kiera had said she found a little creepy. The place they were staying was a lovely blue villa that Lena had stayed in with a few other random guests.

It was a large, two story, house with six rooms, a large common area, three bathrooms and a kitchen. The girl’s were ecstatic, “We get this whole thing to ourselves?” Bianca asked, “Dibs on the biggest room!” She finished as she ran up the stairs to the second floor

The girls didn’t take long to return to the common area, all dressed in their bathing suits, clearly very keen to try out the pool facilities. Despite being the first to run for her room, Bianca was the last to come back, now dressed in a skimpy white bikini that left very little to the imagination.

With the last of them the group headed to the pool area led by Andras. The pool itself was quite big but it was what was around it that made the area such a hotspot, on one side you had the building which housed the island largest restaurant/buffet, on the opposite side you had the beach and half a dozen volleyball nets and at the head stood a stage with plenty of space to dance in front.

There was currently a band playing but the dancefloor was completely empty. They set themselves down at a set of daybeds, Bianca didn’t wait for the group though because as soon as her stuff was down she had run over and plunged herself in the dazzling blue water. “Oh that girl.” Amber said.

“Oh god it feels so nice in here, I’m so not used to this heat!” Bianca said as she resurfaced, the rest of the group joined her quickly. Andras enjoyed the feeling of the cool water flowing across his skin as he too dove into the pool, his demon body might not overheat but Lena’s body sure did.

They enjoyed themselves in the pool for quite a while before they all got out to relax on their chairs in the shade, chatting amongst themselves about what they might do tomorrow. Meanwhile Andras watched the sun, not far off setting, knowing what would happen once it had disappeared.
